Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

These are photos I took during a 24h (“two days, one night”) boat tour through Ha Long Bay, well known for its ancient rock formations.

The area is still recovering from Covid: The tourist masses are amiss, prices low, and while the infrastructure is maybe a bit stained here and there, it only adds to the overall unconcerned happy-go-lucky atmosphere.

Our boat too was still healing from its long pause. Yet, the crew was cordial and openhearted, the rest of the passengers a diverse mix of tourists from all ages and various corners of the world. It was unpretentious in a nice way. I happily exchange catalogue-luxury for authenticity and openness.

What a fun way to enjoy the natural beauty of the breathtaking scenery!
