The rain can’t stop us
(Nuit Blanche Taipei 2023, 3/7)
After getting used to handle my umbrella, camera, and focus came the interesting part: Getting used to the scenery. The umbrellas were the dominating theme everywhere, often shielding the light from people and their faces. Working the area a bit I managed to take a few images I’m happy with. Today’s one is one of those that didn’t fully work though…
The reflections in the puddles smudged the little color in the streets, making me want to go with a black and white editing, emphasizing the play of light and shadow. Black and white makes it much easier to dodge and burn aggressively in some places. It’s a new technique for me, fun to use, but maybe dangerous to overdo. I focused on a few areas, can you tell which?
